Toks van der Linde achieved fame as a well-known Western Province and Springbok Prop and since his retirement from the professional game, he has carved out a hugely successful career as a TV host, including hit shows ‘Oor die Kole’ and currently on ‘Toks en Tjops’.
He made his senior rugby debut in 1992 for Free State province, followed by his Springbok test debut on 12 November 1995 at the age of 25 against Italy in Rome.This were followed by tours to Argentina, France and Wales in 1996; British Isles & Ireland in 1998; Argentina, Ireland, Wales & England in 2000 and lastly France, Italy, England & USA in 2001.
After his retirement from rugby, he received fantastic opportunities with various Corporate companies. Being one of the most amiable, enthusiastic and outgoing of Springboks, he is much in demand as a speaker all around the country – and well known for bursting into opera, especially doing his baritone best with Figaro. He continues to MC at many corporate and social functions and motivates audiences with his inspirational message which he lives by – to never give up and to live your life with the aim of making a positive and visible difference.
